Marija Knežević, born in 1963 in Belgrade, studied Comparative Literature. She completed her post-graduate studies at Michigan State University, where she also taught creative writing. Today, she lives and works in Belgrade. Marija Knežević has published numerous works, including the novel Hrana za pse and the poetry anthologies Elegijski saveti Juliji, Stvari za ličnu upotrebu, Doba Salome and Moje drugo ti. In 2009, the German translation Ekaterini, supported by TRADUKI, was published by Wieser publishing company, Klagenfurt.
