Ernest Wichner was born in 1952 in Zăbrani in Romania and has been living in Germany since 1975. He writes poetry and short stories and translates mostly from Romanian to German. He has translated works by Norman Manea, Ana Blandiana, Nora Iuga, Mircea Cărtărescu, M. Blecher and Varujan Vosganian. He has been the head of the Literaturhaus Berlin since 2003.
