Sead Muhamedagić, born in 1954 in Skokovi near Cazin (Bosnia and Herzegovina), studied German and South Slavic languages and literatures in Zagreb, and completed further education in German philology in Vienna. He works asa freelance literary translator, publicist and poet in Zagreb, while he also works as a lecturer at the teacher training college in Graz. He translates mainly modern Austrian literature (Schnitzler, Kraus, Hofmannsthal, Horváth, Bernhard, Kappacher, Handke, Turrini, Mitterer, Jelinek, Fian, Schwab, Hotschnig, Wogrolly etc.). In 2001, he received the Austrian State Prize for Literary Translation (in Klagenfurt) and in 2011 the Iso Velikanović Prize (in Zagreb).
