Amalija Maček, born in Ljubljana, studied German and Spanish. She is a Board Member of the Slovenian Association of Literary Translators and works at the Department of Translation Sciences at the Philosophical Faculty in Ljubljana, where she coordinates the master’s degree programme of conference interpretation. She also works for the Commission of the Slovenian Book Agency for International Collaboration and leads the newly founded Slovenian-German Translator and Interpreter Club.

Amalija Maček has translated numerous works from German to Slovenian, including those by notable authors such as Bertolt Brecht, Franz Kafka and Ingeborg Bachmann.
