The novel recounts the story of a family over four generations. A life journey that starts in Serbia, leads to emigration to Australia, and returns back to Belgrade, that has – like in a futuristic vision – transformed itself into a cosmopolitan world city during the protagonists’ absence. The main characters of the novel are Igor, Ljudmila, and Aurora: The son, who over the course of the novel becomes a father and grandfather, the daughter who emigrates, and the grandchild, that is born to a Serbo-Australian couple. It is a novel about growing up and the relationship between parents and children. It is a novel about remembering – and forgetting.
