Barbi Marković · 27 January · LCB
20 January 2026

Born in 1980, the Vienna-based author Barbi Marković is known for her sharp observations and relentless wit. In 2024, she was the recipient of the Leipzig Book Fair Prize for »Minihorror« (Residenz, 2023) and in May 2025 she published her collection »Stehlen, Schimpfen, Spielen« with Rowohlt.
We have invited Barbi to take us into her writing cosmos; for the event at the LCB she and her guests have prepared a wild jaunt through the themes of stealing, scolding, and playing. The evening will be kicked off with a discussion about »Jugoslawien und wir«: What is the influence of this country on literary topics and styles more than 30 years after its break-up?
