Selma Asotić: “Sag Feuer” & flugschrift #55

13 April 2026

Bosnian poet Selma Asotić has established herself internationally as a young feminist voice from her country. In May and June 2026 she will be a fellow at the Friederike Mayröcker Poets in Residence Programme in Vienna. Her award-winning debut poetry collection Reci vatra talks about homelands and feeling foreign, about love and lesbian desire, and war as an intergenerational experience and occurrence. The German translation of her poetry collection, titled Sag Feuer (t: Marie Alpermann & Rebekka Zeinzinger, Suhrkamp), is full of impressive images and linguistic crispness. In conversation with the author and Rebekka Zeinzinger, one of her translators, Jana Volkmann will present the collection and explore the power and pull of both the original and translated poems.

At the event they will also present the bilingual and latest edition of the literary magazine flugschrift, curated by Selma Asotić and translated by Rebekka Zeinzinger:
flugschrift #55: Liebesgedichte für Begräbnisse und Revolutionen.

WHEN: 6 May 2026, 7:00 pm
WHERE: Literaturhaus Wien, Zieglergasse 26A, 1070 Wien
Selma Asotić, Rebekka Zeinzinger, Jana Volkmann
Interpreter: Mascha Dabić
