From Danka Ivanović Residency in Romania
10 September 2026

Montenegrin writer Danka Ivanović, who lives and works between Montenegro and Serbia, was our writer-in-residence in Bucharest in June. We are delighted to see the first result of her residency: an excerpt of her latest novel, Case pistii (Partizanska knijga, 2024) and already recognized with literary awards, has now been translated into Romanian by Octavia Nedelcu and published in Matca Literară, one of Romania’s most exciting literary magazines of recent years.
You can read the translated text, „Case pustii“, here.
The issue is illustrated with a painting by the Montenegrin artist Petar Lubarda, depicting a village near the one where Danka’s grandmother came from. A beautiful coincidence!
We look forward to seeing the complete volume translated into Romanian!
